Endo-Bentall Procedure: A Case Report and Review of Postoperative Complications

Abstract

A 79‑year‑old man with a thoracic aortic aneurysm complicated by sinus of Valsalva rupture and an aorto-right atrial fistula presented with progressive dyspnea, orthopnea, and lower extremity edema. He previously underwent atrial septal occluder placement for this defect. Imaging demonstrated a persistent aorto-right atrial communication through an Amplatzer device that was not amenable to transcatheter repair. He subsequently underwent an Endo-Bentall procedure. The postoperative course was complicated by hemodynamic instability, an endoleak, and acute‑on‑chronic renal failure requiring continuous renal replacement therapy. This case reviews the Endo‑Bentall procedure and highlights common postoperative complications.
