Abstract
A 64-year-old female with no past medical history underwent an ERCP under general anesthesia for evaluation of jaundice and a pancreatic mass, during which she experienced no complications. Her second ERCP a week later also under general anesthesia but utilizing ketamine resulted in a postoperative experience of severe depersonalization. The same patient experienced distinct postoperative outcomes following two similar procedures using different anesthetic agents. We will discuss how different etiologies of jaundice influence anesthetic medication selection and perioperative management.
