Abstract
This case discusses a 39 year old man who presented to the hospital after breaking his right hip while ambulating in his home. This patient weight 657 pounds and had a BMI of 94, and had other co-morbidities such as diastolic heart failure and diabetes. He was scheduled to have urgent surgical fixation of his right hip with orthopedic surgery. This case discusses the challenges of general anesthesia of the airway, changes to physiology in the obese, obtaining proper vascular access, and ensuring proper dosing of medications.
