Abstract

A four-week-old infant with failure to thrive and persistent aspiration following a prolonged hospitalization was diagnosed with a laryngeal cleft and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). She subsequently underwent injection laryngoplasty for a type 1 laryngeal cleft. This case highlights anesthetic considerations for airway interventions in infants, emphasizing the balance between airway access and protection. Key discussion points include ventilation strategies, perioperative risk mitigation, and the importance of multidisciplinary coordination in optimizing outcomes for pediatric airway procedures.
