Abstract

We present a case of a 34-year-old female who returned to the Emergency Department 6 days after an uncomplicated vaginal delivery with back pain and hypertension and was found to have an acute Type B aortic dissection with an intimal flap extending from the proximal descending aorta to the distal right common iliac artery. The patient was transferred to the Cardiovascular SICU for further management. Stenting was considered, but the patient was ultimately managed conservatively with plans to pursue stenting and genetic testing for connective tissue disorders outpatient. Here, we will discuss presentation and management of acute aortic dissections.
