Abstract
We present a case of a 10-year-old male with no significant past medical history who presented to the emergency department with a wooden skewer lodged in the left lateral aspect of his mouth, penetrating posteriorly. A CT angiogram of the head and neck revealed the skewer was in close proximity to the internal carotid artery, with mild effacement of the internal jugular vein. The patient was taken to the operating room for airway management and surgical removal. This presentation will discuss the induction and airway management strategies when a foreign body is present in or near the airway.
