Abstract
A 28 year old female G1P0, BMI of 53.6 kg/m2 with a PMH of obesity, obstructive sleep apnea noncompliant with CPAP, type two diabetes mellitus, anxiety and pregnancy-induced narcolepsy was hospitalized for induction of labor at 35 weeks gestation due to preeclampsia with SBP over 160 mmHg. During labor induction, the patient developed respiratory distress and altered mental status, necessitating transfer to the SICU. This case highlights potential pathophysiologic mechanisms contributing to pregnancy-induced narcolepsy and emphasizes the importance of careful anesthetic planning and multidisciplinary collaboration in optimizing outcomes for obstetric patients with complex comorbidities.
