Abstract
Vasculitis is a rare but serious complication that can affect pediatric patients and thus having two patients present around the same time with vasculitides is worth reporting. Also at least one patient suffered from a DVT as a complication of their vasculitis which again is a rare but notable complication.
Patient one- 11 yo female who presented initially to PCP with vague complaints of flank pain and nausea with vomiting for four days. patient two- adolescent male, developed vasculitis after a COVID infection and course was complicated by DVT.
Vasculitis needs to be on the differential for patients presenting with vague complaints/complaints that do not have a better explanation especially in the setting of symptoms that keep recurring or are not getting better as expected. Vasculitis can present with a wide array of presentations such as respiratory symptoms but also GI symptoms to name a few. Vasculitides it is worth noting are also worth keeping on your differential if a patient recently recovered from a viral illness as viral illnesses can trigger them even if patient has no prior history.
