Abstract

We present a case of a 45-year-old female, with a history of abnormal copper and ceruloplasmin levels currently undergoing evaluation for Wilson’s disease, who was scheduled for IR embolization of an intrahepatic arterial pseudoaneurysm following post-liver biopsy hemorrhage. Anesthetic management required careful selection of anesthetic agents that are metabolized by the liver and consideration for hepatic dysfunction, coagulopathy, and potential neurological manifestations of Wilson’s disease. With this case, we will discuss the pathophysiology, presentation, anesthetic considerations, and management for Wilson’s disease in regard to the perioperative setting.
